Deciphering Quality Pre-Trainers From The Rest!

Upon entering any gym changeroom or gym reception area you will see gym junkies mixing away. Some are mixing their amino acids. Others are mixing their favourite protein powders. However more often than not these trainers are mixing away Australia's fastest growing and most popular trend... pre-trainers.

In the 80's and early 90's there was a belief that the biggest gains in the gym were made by those who consumed anabolic steroids or other testosterone boosters.  From the mid 90's to 2000's this gave way to the protein powder phase.  Whilst not as effective as the anabolic steroids, they were still effective enough and more importantly were safe to consume.  However over the past 5 years a new phenomenon has emerged.  It is known as the pre-trainer phase.

Pre-trainers are designed to give their users a sudden and intense boost of energy that is long enough to last an entire workout.  Often they contain high levels of caffeine and beta-alenine.  These key ingredients allow the gym trainer to push beyond their limits and as a result achieve what we all set out to achieve.... The overload effect.  Essentially, the overload effect is responsible for making our muscles bigger or our cardiovascular fitness more efficient.

But are all pre-trainers the same?  Why are some $80 per container whilst others $25?  Is the cost of a pre-trainer the determining factor in what is effective and what isnt effective?  The simple answer is no.

Bodybuilding.com defines the best pre trainer as a product that is designed to support increased energy, focus, and endurance in the gym.  Caffeine will provide the instant energised effect.  Beta-alanine will ward off fatigue.  But what about mineral and vitamin support?

An effective pre-trainer will not only contain caffeine and beta-alanine in it but will also contain vitamins and mineral support.  When we train and sweat we not only lose water but we lose the electrolytes that are saturated in this water.  An effective pre-trainer will supplement the body with these minerals.  They will contain calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, Vitamin B3, B6 and B12.  Not only will they contain these vitamins and minerals but they will contain them in the appropriate doses.

When choosing your pre-trainer please take all of this into account.
